Tart Granny Smith and local heirloom apples and a healthy pinch of local sea salt cut the sweetness of this deeply caramelized preserve.
Great with soft, creamy cheeses as well with hard, aged goudas and cheddars. A crowd pleaser, it can even hang with peanut butter for the kiddos (or for me!). But it’s equally at home on a crusty baguette adult style or spooned over poundcake.
Did I mention butter? The real kind. It loves butter. Try serving alongside pork chops or tossing half the jar in the pan for the last few minutes of cooking.
Organic apples, organic cane sugar, organic lemon juice, San Juan sea salt
Girl Meets Dirt Heritage Preserves are inspired by the long history of orchard keeping on Orcas Island– and a craving for the highest quality, locally sourced, organic fruit preserves nature and careful craft can provide.
Our throwback fruit preserves are made in an old-school style that emphasizes structure and pure, ripe, naturally grown fruit. But we don't fuss– our ingredient lists are short and sweet.
We never use commercial pectin. We believe organic, island heritage fruit, speaks for itself. We pair single varietal fruit with unrefined organic cane sugar, fresh squeezed organic lemon juice, and classically prepare it by hand in
A natural pairing for cheese, our preserves upgrade a cheese platter to sublime. They bring a sense of gravitas to any meal– an appreciation for tradition: for the bounty the land provides, and the simple human ingenuity that inspired us long ago, to preserve it.
